| Welcome to the home of The Northcoast Jazz Collective, Cleveland's premier jazz band! Here you will find news about the group, listings of upcoming performances, pictures, sounds and biographical info on all the band members. The Northcoast Jazz Collective (NJC) is one of the best jazz groups in the Cleveland area, and one of the better known. Voted Best Jazz group by readers of The Free times in 2008 and by readers of Scene Magazine in 2009, the NJC has performed at nearly all of the jazz venues in the area. It has had numerous engagements at Fat Fish Blue, Melange Restaurant, Boulevard Blue, The Grotto, Sasa Bistro and Jazz 28. The band has been featured at numerous festivals such as Ingenuity Fest, Madison Jazz Festival, Berea Arts Fest, Sparx in the City, the Warehouse Fest and many private gigs. The NJC plays straight-up modern jazz that is creative, emotional and accessible. And it swings! Most of its repertoire is comprised of original compositions with some arrangements of modern jazz standards. NJC are all members in good standing of the Cleveland Federation of Musicians Local 4. The Band’s success can be attributed to the high quality musicianship of its members. Personnel include band leader Mark Grey on drums, John Gallo on acoustic bass, Dave Frank on tenor sax, soprano sax and flute, and Dan Maier on piano. NJC is available for club dates, private parties and other events.
